Tramadol is a prescription pain reliever intended for the treatment of mild to severe pain. Report to your doctor any medical conditions that can interfere with tramadol, including stomach disorder, a history of depression, mental illness, attempts of suicide, kidney disease or liver disease. Make sure your doctor is aware of any other prescription or over-the-counter drugs you are currently taking. Tramadol is not intended for patients younger than 18. Do not take tramadol in larger amounts than prescribed. An overdose of tramadol can be fatal. If you experience extreme weakness, lightheadedness, feel like fainting, and your heartbeat slows down, seek emergency medical assistance to prevent the condition from getting worse.

Unless otherwise recommended by your health care provider you must swallow the pill of tramadol whole without breaking or crushing it. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly to avoid unpleasant withdrawal symptoms (diarrhea, anxiety, chills, trouble sleeping, breathing problems etc). Some mild effects you may experience when starting your treatment include nausea, vomiting, flushing, sleep problems, weakness, dizziness and drowsiness. Unless these symptoms persist or get worse you shouldn’t get too worried about them.
